COVID 19 POLICY

Your health and wellbeing is the very essence of what Karen Tingley Therapies is about and I am so pleased to be open for treatments again.  I follow best practice and guidelines set out by the Government, the NHS, the HSE and my professional association the FHT regarding safe and hygienic practice and the use of face coverings and PPE which means it has been necessary to make some changes to the way I work.  Please read through this document so that you are familiar with any changes and what it will mean to your appointment.

I have also undertaken training in infection control.

Covid 19 Risk Assessment

I have carried out a full risk assessment in line with guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in order to remove/control any risk to either you as the client or me as the therapist.

Health Screening

Before any appointment we need to be sure that your treatment is right for you, that you or anyone in your household have no symptoms of Covid 19 and that you are not clinically high risk.  This will be done via phone/video conferencing or online.

Please also take your temperature on the morning of your appointment and reschedule if you have a temperature above 37.5 degrees.

I will be taking my temperature twice daily and taking twice weekly lateral flow tests.

Enhanced Cleaning and Hygiene Measures

I have always adopted strict therapy room and personal hygiene measures to ensure clients health and wellbeing.

You can relax in the knowledge that all towels and couch covers, etc are replaced between each client and the couch, chairs and surfaces are disinfected between each client.  All surfaces and floors are cleaned and disinfected daily. Towels and couch covers are washed at 60 degrees.

I have removed all inessential items from the therapy room including pictures.

I will now be wearing a dedicated uniform, a face shield and a face covering during your treatment.

Adapting or restricting treatments

It may be necessary for me to adapt or restrict certain treatments in order to reduce the risk of spreading Covid 19 and/or protect my clients health and safety.

Treatment times are capped at 1 hour to reduce infection risk.

Maintaining social distancing

Your treatment will obviously involve close contact. At all other times, where possible, I will maintain social distance.

Before your appointment

You will be asked to complete an online screening regarding exposure to Covid 19 before your appointment.  If you are considered high risk it may not be possible to massage you at this time or I may have to take extra precautions to keep you safe.

At your appointment

  • Please bring your own water with you

  • Please avoid wearing jewellery and leave any unnecessary items such as coats, etc in your car or at home.

  • If you work in a setting where there is a high risk of Covid-19 infection e.g. a hospital please shower and change your clothes prior to arriving for your appointment.

  • Face masks are required in a close setting so please arrive wearing yours.  If you arrive without a mask you will be provided with one.

  • On arrival please remove your shoes just inside the door, sanitise hands with the hand sanitiser provided and go straight to the treatment room.

  • Please leave your clothing on your chair.  The chair will be thoroughly cleaned between clients.

  • You will need to be able to get yourself on and off the treatment couch.

  • I will be wearing a mask and face shield throughout your treatment.

  • If you are receiving a massage treatment in addition to hand and arm washing I will be wearing gloves (non latex).

  • The room will be ventilated between appointments and, when it is warm enough, during appointments.

  • A bathroom is available but please avoid using if possible.  A freshly laundered flannel will be placed in the bathroom for drying hands prior to your appointment.  This will only be used by you.

  • Where possible please pay for your booking online.  If you are paying by cash please place the money into an envelope prior to your appointment.

  • There will be 30 minute gaps between appointments to allow for ventilation and enhanced cleaning and so you can avoid crossing paths with another client.  Please be punctual for your appointment to maintain this 30 minute gap.

After your appointment

Please do not try to “tidy up” or fold the towels. Just leave all towels, etc where they are to avoid any risk of infection.

Cancellations

At this time the standard 24 hour cancellation policy will not apply.  If you are in any doubt about your health please reschedule your appointment.  I ask that you give me as much notice as possible where you can.

GDPR considerations

If you, another client, a member of my household or myself show Covid 19 symptoms it will become necessary to contact the UK’s health protection team for track and trace purposes.  Please be aware that this will impact the normal GDPR regulations I operate under.
